Wedding Tips

  • While trade winds temper tropical temperatures, it’s best to avoid ceremonies at midday, when the heat can wilt even the most breathtaking bride. Your bridesmaids and groomsmen will thank you, too!

  • If you must schedule the ceremony midday, consider a gown of breathable, lightweight fabrics such as linen, silk, or cotton blends. Make sure the groom and groomsmen wear light-colored, lightweight suits. Not only are they cooler, but dark colors look out of place in Hawaii !

  • Unless you bring your own, you’ll probably be using a stylist that’s new to you. Achieve your perfect hair style while at home, and take pictures from all angles to bring with you. Show them to your wedding stylist ahead of time to make sure he or she has everything needed, and to avoid last-minute surprises.

  • Even women who don’t generally wear makeup will want to use foundation, blush, and mascara; subtle eye shadows and liners make the camera happy, too. Have a friend or stylist practice your makeup weeks or days ahead of the ceremony to avoid last-minute tears.

  • If marrying on the beach, consider a barefoot ceremony. If that sounds too casual, avoid spike heels, as these sink into the sand or Hawaii ’s red, loamy soil. Wider heels work best. And heels of manmade materials do better than those of cloth or leather which may stain or tear.

  • Don’t over tan! Remember that your Hawaii HD video is a lifetime treasure. A moderate tan looks far more feminine than a baked-on brown, or even worse, a lobster-red sunburn! Wear a strapless bikini top, or tan topless to avoid tan lines. Make sure that you don’t get ‘raccoon eyes’ by tanning while wearing sunglasses.

  • Avoid excessive partying the night before the ceremony. Alcohol can cause puffy, red eyes and facial swelling. Get a good night’s sleep—if nerves allow!—so you’ll be refreshed and perfect for the camera as well as for your family, friends, and future partner
